Some of my favorite products from Finlandia are their new line of Creamy Gourmet Cheeses. These flavorful, spreadable cheeses come in five delicious varieties: Black Garlic, Garden Dill, Classic, Vanilla Bean and Sweet Lemon. They are the perfect addition to both sweet and savory dishes! When I first tried the Black Garlic variety, I remembered a recipe we enjoyed back on the farm this past summer. Delectable puff pastry turnovers called Savulohipasteijat or Smoked Salmon Pasties.
These two-bite appetizers were prepared with fresh caught fish that was smoked right there on the Homefarm. This smoked salmon was used to prepare the creamy cheese filling along with fresh dill and lemon. When Finlandia launched their new line of Creamy Gourmet Cheeses here in the United States, I knew they would be perfect for recreating this dish! I thought the Black Garlic variety would add another dimension of flavor to these treats.
These Smoked Salmon Pasties are perfect for entertaining. A warm batch, straight from the oven is sure to be a hit at your next party! In fact, I am planning on making some for an upcoming New Year’s Eve bash. I think they would pair perfectly with a bottle of bubbly!
For step-by-step instructions, follow along in my latest how-to video collaboration with Finlandia. It has been so fun sharing our cooking videos with all of you in 2016. I can’t wait to post more recipes and stories from the Homefarm in 2017.
Cheers! Kippis!
